Connection Lost

We spend most of our days indoors and usually when we do go outside we first put on shoes with rubber soles. The once intimate connection we had to the earth is mostly lost. This relationship, as it turns out, served a purpose. We are healthier when we spend time grounding.

What is Grounding (also called earthing)?

Grounding is putting the body in direct contact with the earth. This means that the bare skin needs to make contact with soil, sand, water, or a conductive surface that is in contact with the earth.

The scientific explanation is that the earth’s surface is covered with negatively charged ions.
Our daily metabolic processes create a build-up of free radicals that are lacking this negative charge. Most are familiar with this issue which is why we include antioxidant-rich foods in ou diet. But diet is not the only way to combat the problem. When we make direct contact with the earth, a transfer of negative charge takes place and the body is able to return to its neutral state.

  • Relieved muscle tension and headaches
  • Faster healing

Thermography change after grounding

Take a look at the image above of a 44-year-old woman with chronic back pain. These thermography scans, a commonly used imaging method in medicine show fascinating change. The left image was taken before grounding. The red patterns represent “hot” areas of pain and inflammation. The right image shows a sharp reduction in inflammation after four nights of sleeping grounded. The woman made note that she experienced reduced pain and better sleep.

Get Reconnected

Ideally, you want to incorporate this healing energy into your daily routine.

Simply walking outside barefoot is one way to ground yourself. Swimming in a natural body of water, such as the ocean or a lake is another great way. To work, the skin must be in direct contact with rock, dirt or water. The beach is possibly the best place as not only are sand and saltwater extremely conductive, but you get the bonus of magnesium absorption from the saltwater.

Most of us, due to work obligations have very limited time to spend outdoors. There are also some indoor options that allow us to extend the amount of time we spend grounding. Invest in grounding products—which can be used while sleeping, relaxing, or working—such as conductive:

Bed pads or sheets
Floor and chair mats
Patches to place on your body where it hurts

We hope you use this simple tool and experience the overwhelming benefit. get reconnected and stay grounded!
