January can make many of us feel really lousy. Winter is time for rest, slowing down and focusing inwards yet we often set really restrictive or unfair goals for ourselves. January shouldn’t be about go go go, but rather, deciding what we hope to bring in. For colder months, our health focused intentions should align with this. For many of my clients, we are already working on tailored nutrition strategies to support hormonal health (PCOS, irregular cycles, endometriosis), digestion (acid reflux, bloating, constipation) and allergies (skin eczema, psoriasis, sinus issues, immune responses). Instead of using January as ‘goal setting’, we’re doing exercises that look at the year at a whole, just as we are looking at our health as a whole. In 2022, how do we want to feel and what part of our world needs some support? How can we find joy in the practises that keep us feeling really well? Im asking clients to look at these areas of their health: nature, joy, movement, sleep and nutrition.
Better health outcomes come from taking a holistic approach. If we want a different outcome, we often need a better method. Leaning into new changes can be incredibly uncomfortable, but there is beauty in the discomfort when we know it’s just a transition. Different seasons of our lives often require different approaches – as the world around us changes, so do our bodies and our needs. Nutritional Therapy is a practical, evidence based approach to eating well to feel good and take a proactive approach to disease prevention.
